My name is Steven Russell, and I am known as the "Butterfly Dentist".

The short version explanation for this began in Costa Rica on a family vacation where we all fell in love with the amazing variety of butterflies and moths fluttering by. Then, I had the good fortune of meeting Steve Albaranes, a famous artist, who creates sculptures of butterflies, and a friendship began. His work is displayed prominently in our office and my work is evident every time Steve smiles. Many of my patients pointed out that butterflies are a metaphor for what I do for people. Butterflies are elegant, beautiful, and gentle. Likewise, modern cosmetic restorative dentistry gives my patients these same qualities in their beautifully enhanced smiles. As for my education, I am a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and the prestigious U.C.L.A. School of Dentistry. I have been an active member of many dental study clubs and academies and have spoken before groups on the subject of cosmetic dentistry. My staff and I routinely take twice the required post graduate courses each year to make sure we provide the most cutting-edge technologies available for our patient's safety and comfort.

I'm proud to present dentistry in an atmosphere of classical refinement at our studio. I aspire to be no less an artist than my father (pictured on your right) who won an award in "The Body by Fisher" contest for his stunning model of a stagecoach as a sixteen year old in North Dakota. His hand carved florets and eagles are amazing. Equally amazing is how this attention to detail and quality is evident in everything he has ever done in his life.

Did I mention my mother? She is the Irish personification of cheer, love, and humor. She's also smarter than my dad - her IQ. is two points higher than his!

My wife, Toni, is a hall of fame mother to our three crazy children, and has served the Orinda School District with distinction as a teacher's aide for 19 years at Glorietta School. Without her relentless dedication and personal sacrifice we would be nothing.
